Your Local Dragon is the largest free regional magazine mainly delivered door to door by Royal Mail in most towns & villages in Anglesey, North Gwynedd, Conwy County, Denbighshire, within 7 miles of Ewloe in Flintshire and the towns & villages surrounding Chester

Hello, we are Jared Pegler and Andrea Monteith…

After working together in the design, print, and magazine marketing industry for a number of years, in May 2011 we created our first “Your Local Dragon Directories”.

Small beginnings… Anglesey 2011. In that area no one else was offering a high‑quality, regular house‑to‑house letterbox delivery service for local businesses. After the financial crisis, trades and services needed a boost, and we believed locally targeted advertising was the answer.

From Idea to Community Magazine

We launched our directory‑style magazines inviting local businesses to advertise their products and services. Having both worked with glossy “pick‑up” publications before, we knew that advertisers genuinely preferred letterbox distributions—less waste, better reach, and stronger results.

House‑to‑House Delivery That Works

From day one, come rain or shine, with the dedicated help of friends and family (thank you!) we hand‑delivered magazines through letterboxes, ensuring maximum impact. The responses were immediate: tradespeople offering repairs and maintenance saw new calls coming in straight away.

Expansion Across North Wales to Chester

Homeowners loved receiving the Local Dragon magazine, and advertisers quickly asked us to expand beyond Anglesey onto the mainland – Bangor, Felinheli and Caernarfon. Very soon we launched a Conwy publication- delivering to thousands more households and offering even greater local advertising opportunities.

Some of our team continued to work in the background throughout the Covid year, as we planned to launch the new Denbighshire Coastal magazine. Soon after came the Ewloe magazine and Chester magazine.

Today, Local Dragon continues to connect communities, support small businesses, and deliver results through trusted house‑to‑house distribution across North Wales and Chester.

Many of our original 29 advertisers are still advertising with us today, because they know that through rough times and good times – this just works.
