How often do the directories go out?
Every new publication is bulk printed & bulk delivered over a cycle of two calendar months. Our directories are mainly distributed directly to households by Royal Mail, and this distribution is added to by our own team who also deliver to selected homes and business premises during each 2 month distribution cycle.

How many homes do you deliver to?
We print 5 separate hyper local publications, targeting local residents within groups of towns & villages that are easy for local trades & services to travel to, or for local clients to visit your premises. The print run for each of the 5 geographic publications is 15000 copies per distribution campaign – that’s a total of 75,000 individual household properties being targeted every 2 months over all 5 areas. Because we use Royal Mail we can vary the target postcode sectors they target each time, so that with repeat advertising your advert is received and used by even more households throughout the year. Our surveys have shown that door to door delivery yields better results than pick up. Each of our 5 individual hyper local publications boasts a local geographic adult readership of around 30,000 per distribution run. Royal Mail & GPS Tracked
Royal Mail deliver most of our magazines to households in 5 geographic areas. We choose a selection of slightly different postcode sectors for them to target each time. This ensures your advert is densely delivered but reaches even more properties throughout the year within the area you choose. In Anglesey/Gwynedd and Conwy county (2 areas) our small team of GPS tracked delivery people work alongside the Royal Mail delivery, targeting homes in specific towns & villages and they leave small number of books in a few popular local businesses. We pride ourselves on the effective & professional house to house delivery of your advert. That’s why it works!
How can I be sure that the directories will be delivered?
It’s in our companies best interest to ensure as many copies of the publications we print are actively being used by the public. Since 2011, Your Local Dragon has focused on distribution as the most vital part of production. Each book represents two months of our expert work, so we strive to avoid waste. Royal Mail, the most trusted service for house-to-house deliveries, is our main delivery method, supported by our small GPS tracked team who cover different postcode sectors and routes. Copies are also placed in local businesses and monitored for pickup, with any leftovers being redistributed to outlets, businesses, or households, ensuring maximum reach and minimal wastage.
What’s the minimum booking I can make?
The minimum booking we can offer is one full print & delivery campaign (2 months) This is because we produce a bulk print run followed by a huge house to house delivery every 2 months, (not just a few thousand per month the way other magazines do) Two monthly payments cover all the print & distributions we complete across each 2 month publication cycle. Most advertisers choose to advertise with us for 6 or 12 months because they benefit from much lower monthly rates, reach more individual properties, and attract all year round results. The most popular choice is a quarter page on a 6 month booking.

How much is it?
We offer various packages and sizes – it costs less per month when you advertise for longer. Our staff have ‘discount rates’ that they can offer from time to time so please ask about these.

How do I know which size advert is right for my business?
Choosing the correct advert size depends on your average sale value (ROI), your budget and your business type. We recommend you consider the most affordable long term option for your business. Smaller adverts left running for longer or across more areas are more affordable & effective than short term ‘one off’ bigger adverts.
- 1/8th Page Advert (6cm wide x 4.5cm tall) Small business wanting their contact details handy all year round e.g ‘One Man Band’ tradesman
- A Quarter Page Ad (6cm wide x 9cm tall) Self-employed or maybe employs one other person & needs to maintain /build their small business.
- A Half Page Ad (12.5cm wide x 9cm tall) Small business with regular client retention – such as a beautician or restaurant- or who offer household services e.g carpet supply & fit, or garden landscaper who employs staff & needs more exposure for their business or to explain more about what they offer.
- A Full Page Ad (12.5cm wide x 19cm tall) Medium business or High transaction value such as kitchen installers, builders, and double glazing services. In general we tend to switch our standard advert placements to give people equal chances for front half, back half left & right hand pages.
- Prime Pages (Back, Inside Front & Back , Pages 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,8, 9, 10, 11 and Centre Pages)Highest exposure and improved brand recognition. If you prefer your advert to run on a specific page, if it’s available, you can reserve it at an additional cost.
- Right Hand Page We tend to switch advert places to give people equal changes for Right Hand/Left Hand placements but if you specifically want your advert to run on a RH page, you can reserve that specification for an additional cost.
I don’t know how to make an advert- can you help?
Don’t worry we can create your advert FREE! If you don’t have a logo or any idea about what to put on an advert, we’ve been designing effective adverts for many years so we can design a great advert for you! We email the proof of your advert to you & you just check and approve it before it goes to print.
We know how people use our publications and how to create adverts that work specifically within our magazines. After you’ve booked your advert, one free design is included in the price and you can send us your business card, or guide us to your website or Facebook page (or give us more precise details if you prefer) and we’ll do the rest! We might just need you to send an image or two if you’ve chosen a larger sized advert.
How do I pay for my advert, and what are the payment terms?
Our advertised rates assume you set up an automatic payment plan. This payment method reduces paperwork and admin costs and helps to make life easier all round. You set it up shortly after your booking has been confirmed. In special circumstances we can arrange for card, bank transfer or cheques but there may be an additional admin charge* if ever your payment is delayed. Our standard payment terms are 7 days from the invoice date.
* Admin costs may be added to accounts falling over 30 days, to cover the cost of reminders or calls to collect late payments . (Jan 2026)
